Holliday ran down Ford on the anchor leg of the 4x100m earlier that day long before he pulled his hamstring in the 100m finals and had already beaten him 3 times at the 2008 NCAA Outdoor Championships in the 100m when both were healthy.

Interpret it how you will, I’ve always thought Ford had the better acceleration which is why he’s always put up better 60m times, but when they’ve gone head-to-head at the longer outdoor distances, Holliday has won every time.

And just for the record, Jacoby Ford beat Holliday in the 60 m dash, but Holliday beat ford in the 100 m dash last year.

not a fair race, jacoby injured his hamstring. if you go back to the 60 meter indoor championship, when everyone was healthy, jacoby was no doubt the winner. he will always be the fastest in my book. his bio on the clemson website says he was recorded one time running a 4.123 40 yard dash.

you americans, i like seeing speed and fast 40′s and american football runs. Do any of you know Noel Devine, How long till hes 21 so he can get a invite to the combine and we see him burn people.

4.17 and 4.18 weren’t the prediction they were the low end of a range. The prediction was that Ford’s time would’ve been between 4.17 and 4.27, and Holliday’s between 4.18 and 4.28. Ford and Holliday both had unofficial best times of 4.27, both with in the range, the official times were right around there as well.

It’s easy to criticize in hindsight but by I doubt you could’ve gotten a prediction much closer.

    @ryantimmins99
I would’ve had Best 4th just a hundredth of a second off of Spiller’s. The order for the most part was consistent with what happened so far, Ford was 1st, Holliday 2nd, Best and Spiller 3rd and 4th. The times were close except for Holliday’s who was .06s outside of the interval I gave. The times seemed to be slower this year for whatever reason.

4.17? and 4.18?? wtf those are some unrealistic predictions

  9. ryantimmins99 Says:

    @thenextreggie. how about best?

  10. thenextreggie Says:

Fastest 40 yard dash times at the combine prediction:
    1. Jacoby Ford (4.17-4.27)
    2. Trindon Holliday (4.18-4.28)
    3. CJ Spiller (4.26-4.36)

  11. Freshja14 Says:

WTF did Jacoby Ford pull a hammy during the race @ 9:13???

  14. kjg8erz8 Says:

im having a hard time seeing demps running a 4.46 40. must have been a bad day.. because he is definitely a sub 4.3 guy. a few of clips were the fsu game in the mud/rain. @ 5:04 is more like it

Arenas while being a great returner/cornerback isn’t necessarily in the same realm as the Hollidays, Fords, Demps, Spilers, and Bests of college football. In fact, the fastest person on Alabama’s roster and the one player that likely had a shot of cracking this list isn’t Arenas, but Terry Grant who’s their 3rd string tailback. When teammates like WR Mike McCoy say you have so much speed that “you’re just a different kind of fast’, then you know there’s something there.

  16. cew1965 Says:

    whereis javier arenas man?

  17. MerC16 Says:

    excellent choices!!!

  18. jboycep Says:

Clemson’s gonna miss all that speed.

  19. jboycep Says:

Best is definitely fast, but no one combines cuts and speed like Spiller, his cuts are so sharp!

  20. MrJordan123123 Says:

@xhu30 bo never ran a sub 103 so shut the f up

  21. jcharlet1 Says:

yup trust me trindon holiday is the best big time and even on some of the games that lsu plays they show videos of track where he just flies past them and think like they say hes only what 5″5 that is almost twice as many steps
only if he was like 6’2 i think hes tryin to make it to the olympics well hope he can make the olympics prolly gonna be the shortest one lol

  22. houston3sfin3st99 Says:

whats the names of the songs in order???

  23. xhu30 Says:

I have 2 disagree…Best has been angled a few times, but I’ve never seen Spiller angled, EVER! I know Best is fast i was there when he won the CA state meet w/a 10.3, but Spiller gets to top speed faster than Best does, I coach high school track & ran track @ Fresno State…Plus I think Spiller carries his speed better than Best too…No disrepect to Best, but its not like im comparing him to some 3rd down back either, this is CJ Spiller we’re talkin bout!

  24. xhu30 Says:

Great list….I GUESS NO ONES COMPREHENDING THE FACT THAT THERE’S ONLY ONE GUY THATS OVER 6ft AND 200lbs ON THIS LIST….AND THATS WHY BO KNOWS FOOTBALL BABY!!!! POUND FOR POUND THE FASTEST FOOTBALL PLAYER EVER!!!!

  25. thenextreggie Says:

It’s always been my position that while it may be only a couple yards longer than a football field, it’s the only commonly recognized race that evaluates true speed as opposed to acceleration, like the 40 yard dash, or as opposed to speed and endurance like the 200m. Essentially there really is no perfect “gauge”, each one has it’s faults, however, the 100m seems to be one of the better ones. If they standardized an 80 yard dash it would be perfect, unfortunately it doesn’t exist.
