@spikkel70 of course. i,m talking about the 2010 world cup final holland-spain. in those game holland didnt play football. they played karate, tae kwondo do, and a little bit of kick boxing so i say they had to end the game with only 7 players. even a living legend and a holland man like johan cruyff said he felt shame during the game…

I am Dutch and nobody here said Spain cheated, everybody agreed Spain was the better team. That’s part of the pain, we are used to being knocked out playing the better/beautiful football and know we played like inter but did not get a result so nothing to be proud of… And in south america they have a word for fooling the ref and it’s used as a compliment. Race and politics have nothing to do with it. In fact, it’s a bloody shame bringing Fortuyn, who was murdered, into this!

They are surely no worst than the others. Maybe it is just part of the football mentality: when one’s favourite team loses, the referee is blamed. 
I confess that don’t know very well the attitude of Dutch people, and I didn’t mean to point the finger specifically at them. However, the prejudice dark skinned = cheat seems to have become quite ubiquitous in sport blogs (particularly in British ones).
Regarding the Dutch being sore losers, let me for once defend them!
@fradiavolo11 Also in Holland, I don’t feel there is a particular sentiment against mediterranean countries/south america as being cheaters. I do think that Dutch are sore losers by heart
. It’s always something/one else. Germans and English for example seem to look easilier at their own team and their faults and quality.

I do not understand why there were such nasty tackles by Holland so far up front. Was no need for those. And well Iniesta did dive once, like almost every other attacking football player does. The red card was a foul, he did lay his hand on his shoulder. And that moaning about Webb is just ridiculous (only the deflection of the wall in E.T. should’ve been called, but hey..:P )

p.s. I was happy that Holland got to the final. Maybe they didn’t make the most out of it. Maybe a better referee would have helped. Had the players been warned since the early start that violent play was not going to be tolerated, maybe we would have never seen kung-fu kicks and vicious tackles. And Holland’s players would have focused more on their skills, like against Brasil. It looks like a missed chance. If Switzerland beat Spain, I am sure that Holland could have too!

I just got tired of wankers whining of being cheated. It looks like it is the new trend among northern european football fans. Particularly because too often the equation latin / dark skinned = cheat is drawn. Maybe this is not just a coincidence in a period of rising right-wing extremism (e.g. BNP, NPD, FN, Lega Nord, Fortuyn List). Said that, I agree that it was a mediocre tournament. And that Spain is having its golden period at sports (don’t forget also basketball and F1!).

Spain is without a doubt the best team of the world right now. That said, Spain also won Wimbledon and the Tour (bastards 
). We should be glad too be in the final. The whole tournament I waited for that really good game that eventually never came, only moments. And against brasil we could have so easily lost..

Spain scored the least goals of the entire wc. They deserved a lot
more cards, got away with a bunch of fouls. No, I don’t think the best team won. Holland was undefeated during the WC. Germany showed great skills in the WC. Spain scored a lucky goal, should’ve been a corner right before and Iniesta and also Puyol deserved red. Yet Webb gives Heitinga red, for what? For practically nothing.

C’mon man, be fair, the spanish team dived all the time. They cheated with acting.
