Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga has been dropped from the Spain squad for the first time since he arrived at the club in 2018.
A £71million club record fee was paid for the Spaniard when he arrived from Atletic Bilbao, and big things were expected as he signed a 7-year deal with the club.
However, it has been anything but ‘big’ since his arrival, and now his Chelsea career is all-but over.
This will SURELY spark a move away from the club this summer, whether it be on loan or on a permanent deal, if he is to want to save his football career domestic and international, then the only thing he must do now is move on.
I can’t see him being flooded with offers from new teams, but I can definitely see clubs interested. But I can also see Chelsea losing out on quite a bit of money for him, but they have to bite the bullet now it really is that simple.
Edouard Mendy is playing well and unless there is an unforeseen circumstance, he will largely be keeping the number one place under Thomas Tuchel this season albeit with some rotation.
And as I understand, Chelsea are also looking to try and sign Gianluigi Donnarumma on a free transfer this summer, which will add even more fuel to the Kepa leaving fire.
I’m afraid I can only now see this ending in one way – Kepa leaving Chelsea on a loan to buy deal this summer, and it will be the end of his Chelsea nightmare.
