While a report has revealed that Boca Juniors are ready to make a contract offer for Manchester United striker Edinson Cavani, a former teammate is helping to convince the 33-year-old to join the Argentina club.
In an interview with ESPNFormer Manchester United defender Marcos Rojo said he remains in constant contact with Cavani. Rojo noted that he wanted to convince the striker to wear the colors of Boca Junior.
In addition, he said that Cavani spoke with Juan Román Riquelme, the second vice president of Boca Juniors.
“I talk a lot with Cavani, he’s a great person and we have a great relationship. When I got here he asked me how I was, how I was. It is important that players like him say that he wants to come and play at Boca; he speaks highly of the club and Argentinian football, ”Rojo said.
“When I told him there was a chance to come, [Cavani] told me that he had spoken with Roman at one point and that he liked the option very much, that he would be interested in the future.
Cavani’s contract expires in June and Boca Juniors have made no secret of their intention to take on the Manchester United striker. The South American club is would be ready to offer a three-year contract with an amount of 4 million euros.
It will be interesting to see if Manchester United decide to honor the contract that Boca Juniors are ready to offer. This season, Cavani has made 27 appearances, scoring seven goals and recording two assists.
