Eddie Howe is getting closer and closer to being named the next Celtic Football Club manager…
What was said?
Speaking on this week’s ‘The Celtic Huddle’ podcast, reliable Daily Mail reporter Ian McGarry delivered an encouraging six-word update on the 43-year-old.
“It’s in the little details,” he said.
The former Premier League boss has become the frontrunner to succeed Neil Lennon this summer, following behind-the-scenes talks with majority shareholder Dermot Desmond.
Can Howe win back the league for Celtic?
Good news to come
This latest update should get a lot of it in Parkhead, as it puts an end to several doubts that had started creeping in over the past week or so.
Football Insider suggested on April 3 that Crystal Palace was planning a late raid to seal Howe from Celtic’s grip. They wanted him to replace a broken Roy Hodgson at the end of the season.
Likewise, it was believed that another factor delaying the move was the 43-year-old’s desire to have his trusted Cherries right-hand man Richard Hughes as Nick Hammond’s replacement as director of football.
But McGarry’s claim suggests Howe’s decision is all but over, save for that much-anticipated official announcement.
Although he was sacked by Bournemouth after his relegation to the Championship, Howe would bring many qualities to Celtic Park. It’s easy to forget that he led them from Ligue 2 to the Premier League in the first place.
As the Bhoys seek to embark on a new era, he would surely be the ideal candidate to lead any reconstruction.
“He’s meticulous,” Simon Francis told the Daily Express. “He leaves no stone unturned. And he instills that work ethic in the players. Because you know he adheres to it. Don’t arrive late, don’t walk around the training ground late, he’s always the first. You can never question what he does.
A stark contrast to Neil Lennon, who would not have strayed from the methods of Brendan Rodgers, who is a bit lazy, to say the least.
Also considering that the club have been referred to with very uninspiring names such as Roy Keane and Steve Clarke, the Parkhead loyalists have every right to be extremely excited for this nomination.
AND in other news, Howe could instantly save Celtic millions by releasing THIS “special” 18-year-old gem…
