Manchester United suffered a major injury stroke ahead of their Granada clash with Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford potentially unavailable to start.
The Frenchman has potentially been ruled out for the remainder of the campaign, while the latter is in doubt for the shock in Spain.
Fortunately, Red Devils boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has the perfect solution to these injury problems in the form of fast winger Daniel James.
Will Manchester United progress after Granada?
Yes, they have it in the bag.
No, they will be eliminated.
Although he is somewhat in the grip of a slight inconsistency – an aspect which is understandable given that he is only 23 years old – the former Swansea City man is having a positive season.
He has scored five goals in all competitions so far throughout 2020/21, already one more than his entire run in the last term.
The £ 60million winger has hit that form at the right time, however, with four of those strikes coming since mid-December alone.
While James still has a ways to go to match the respective influences of Martial and Rashford, with the attacking duo accounting for just under 30% of the Red Devils’ total goals for the season, it would surely be a silly move from Solskjaer. to keep him stranded on the bench given the team’s injury concerns.
After all, the United boss himself has praised James himself, saying he is “getting back to his best” after the 4-0 clash with Real Sociedad earlier in the season, a game in which he scored an assist goal.
With just Amad Diallo as the competition on the wings due to Martial and potentially Rashford’s absences, it might look like James’ inclusion is by default.
He is more than worthy of being included from the start despite these injury issues.
