Everton tracks down the Bologna man who caught the attention of Leverkusen and AC Milan

Everton is said to be tracking Bologna defender Takehiro Tomiaso, who has recently caught the attention of Milan and Bayer Leverkusen.

Tomiyasu has made a huge rise in Serie A, having joined Bologna in 2019.

The Japanese defender started his career at Fukuoka FC, before moving to Sint-Truiden for a small fee.

His offers then attracted attention from Bologna, who signed him for a deal worth £ 8.1m.

Since then, its market value has risen to 16.2 million pounds, according to the Transfermarkt website.

The 22-year-old is now being described as a possible target for Everton.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, as translated by Sport Witness, Everton is “following up” the player with Bologna in search of a potential replacement.

Milan is said to have previously turned down an offer of 15 million euros and Bologna asked for 20 million euros.

This will be the asking price in Everton’s budget for the summer transfer window, but they may have to fend off competition from Leverkusen, as the German club is also said to be targeting Tomiaso.

Everton’s move for Tomiaso could also hinge on Yerry Mina’s future, as reports suggest the Toffees could sell the Colombian this summer.

Kaleido Coulibaly has also been linked with a move to Merseyside.

SL Show – Does Everton need a new central defender?

Despite being well stacked at the center of defense, Everton is still tied to the players at that position.

The Toffees include Mina, Michael Kane, Ben Godfrey and Mason Holgate at the club, all of whom have performed well this season.

Most of Everton’s reporting, though, appears to be about the center back.

Coulibaly, Tomiaso and Nikola Maximovic’s goals have been reported.

It would actually be a mistake for Everton to go after another central defender when the other positions demand investment.

Right back and right winger are two places that do not have a strong quality at the rear, with players like Seamus Coleman and Alex Iwobi not presenting a big enough threat to the winger.

A new striker is also needed, as Carlo Ancelotti appears to distrust Joshua King even though Dominic Calvert Lewin has struggled to score goals recently.
