Solshire issues warning from Granada Europa League: goals are at the heart of Man United

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer gave an ominous warning to Europa League opponents Granada when he announced that scoring goals was in Manchester United’s DNA.

United will miss the Spanish team on Thursday in the first leg of the quarter-finals in a competition that represents their last realistic hope of winning the title this season.

Despite having scored only four times in his last five away matches in all competitions, United manager Solskjaer insisted his team would continue the attack.

“I think that’s what we do best.” “It will always be in our DNA that we want to go and score goals,” the club’s official website said.

Of course you want a defensive foundation, but we know the goals outside the ground and also how good we are at Old Trafford as well.

“We have a proud track record at Old Trafford in Europe, so if we get a good result to build on, that’s all we can ask for.”

United scored a four-goal win over Real Sociedad in Turin and also claimed a pivotal 1-0 victory over Milan in San Siro, with Solskjaer getting confidence from those performances in the competition.

He said: “I think we have proven to ourselves and everyone that we are a good team at home or outside it, but of course the neutral match against Sociedad was very good for us.”

“We played against a very good team. Granada is a different team, a different formation than Real Sociedad, with different strengths and a different way of playing, so we have to find a way to get the best possible performance.”

Striker Anthony Elanga is vying to make his debut for United, and Solskjaer has full confidence in the 18-year-old.

The Swedish striker signed a new contract last month and Solskjaer insists he wasn’t included just for experience and is ready to go.

The Norwegian said: “I have confidence in the young players of course, and we have in Anthony a player with good skills, great behavior, and he scores goals from either the right or the left, and he has good speed.”

“He’s not just there for the experience, he might actually play a role, who knows? He has this X factor and I like guys with speed and acceleration and he definitely has that.”
