The Blues have reportedly set an asking price on defender Emerson Palmieri, with Inter Milan & Napoli keen on luring the Italy international back to his home country.
According to DailyMail, Chelsea will see nothing less than €20m attract their attention.
He was brought in by Antonio Conte during the Italian’s Stamford Bridge reign back in 2018, for the same price Chelsea have slapped on him now. Present Inter coach Conte is eyeing a reunion with his former defender, who he has been linked with from almost 1 year.
Napoli themselves have been linked with Emerson for quite some time now and are looking to bolster their defence that operates with the likes of two traditional left-backs – Marco Rui and Faouzi Ghoulam, who recently underwent a knee surgery.
The former AS Roma man has made just 11 appearances so far for Chelsea this season. Ben Chilwell, Andreas Christensen, Cesar Azpilicueta, Marcos, Antonio Rudiger and Thiago Silva have been used much more frequently for most of the season in various positions at the back in Frank Lampard’s back four and Tuchel’s current back three.
Earlier this month speaking to chelseafc.com, Tuchel acknowledged Emerson suffers from his ‘bad decisions’.
“I have another guy who I would love to mention in Emerson who suffers from bad decisions by me. He does not play but he is an amazing guy who trains at the highest level and he never lets the team down with his mentality,” he said.
The left-back has been unused for most of the season and with Tuchel using him only once as a starter since taking charge – against Barnsley in the FA Cup, it looks unlikely he will receive playing time further down the season.
