A select group of Arsenal fans were disappointed by Pierre Emerick Aubameyang’s performance during the club’s 1-0 defeat to Olympiacos last night.
The club captain returned to the starting line-up after being an unused substitute for the North London Derby for violating pre-match protocols.
His show was not impressive over the course of 90 minutes as it squandered many obvious scoring opportunities.
The 31-year-old was clearly placed on target in the first half, but he shot his ball over the crossbar. The results remained equal at rest.
Shortly after the first half, Olympiacos broke the deadlock by way of Youssef El Arabi after deviating from Gabriel Mahalhays.
Nicolas Pepe and Martin Odegaard then missed easy chances to settle scores before Aubameyang repeats the same.
The striker ran behind the defense on the halfway line and made his way into the penalty area only to somehow miss his target.
Three minutes into the time, Aubameyang had another chance to score, but it wasn’t supposed to be his night.
His attempt to press was blocked by the goalkeeper, and was unable to score from a bounce from six yards.
Some of the club’s supporters were not satisfied with his offer and here are some reactions on Twitter.
Forget Aubameyang’s missed opportunities today for a second because that could happen. I am not happy with the other items. He’s not doing enough of the ball and his overall width is very faint. It wasn’t given 100% today …

We got to the next round, but that was a poor performance from the team. Aubameyang completely OFF🤦🏽♂️

Ceballos is the enemy now!
Aubameyang deserves more time on the bench!
Bad game but most importantly, qualification sealed !!!

What a disappointing performance.
Happy to qualify on aggregate but we had many easy chances that we didn’t take.
A bad performance from Aubameyang and really shouldn’t start against West Ham.
The next round, COYG.

This is Aubameyang’s bread and butter, which is to say the least disappointing.

After what happened last weekend, Aubameyang was expected to come cold, but that wasn’t the case.
It was a poor performance from him. Arsenal still qualified for the quarter-finals after winning 3-1 in Piraeus last week.
North London and West Ham face United on the Premier League road ahead of the international break.
It wouldn’t be a surprise if Aubameyang was dropped off the bench. Alexandre Lacazette might lead the line against the Hammers.
