Esiti strike helps Goztepe edge Antalyaspor

The Nigeria international was on the scoresheet as Unal Karaman’s side extended their unbeaten run at Antalya Stadyumu

Anderson Esiti found the back of the net as Goztepe claimed a 3-2 win over Antalyaspor in Sunday’s Turkish Super Lig game.

The midfielder teamed up with Unal Karaman’s side in January on loan from Greek Super League club PAOK and performed well.

The 26-year-old received his fifth start to the league season and took the opportunity to open his account during the meeting.

Goztepe started the game unimpressively, allowing Antalyaspor to open the scoring via Fredy from the penalty spot in the fifth minute of the game.

Esiti then leveled the procedures for holding the Gursel Aksel stadium after receiving a nice help from Halil Akbunar.

Adis Jahovic gave Goztepe the lead for the first time in the game, benefiting from another assist from Akbunar.

Antalyaspor then tried to avoid defeat, scoring in the 67th minute when ex-Bayern Munich and Arsenal player Lukas Podolski hit the back of the net.

Six minutes before the end of the game, Atinc Nukan scored the winning goal after receiving an assist from Berkan Emir.

Esiti played for the duration of the match while his teammate and Mali international Fousseni Diabate played for 46 minutes before being replaced by Nigerian Brown Ideye.

Senegalese international Lamine Gassama made an appearance after replacing Halil Akbunar in the 89th minute.

With the victory, Goztepe moved up to ninth place in the standings after accumulating 51 points in 37 games.

Esiti has now made 15 appearances for the Gursel Aksel stadium outfit and hopes to help them continue to win when they face Genclerbirligi in their next league game on May 11.

The midfielder has 10 caps for the Super Eagles and is expected to have a more significant impact for Goz Goz to increase his chances of securing a national team recall.
