Double boost for Man Utd, as Dortmund exit ‘reassess’ Sancho’s fees

Borussia Dortmund will sell Manchester United target Jadon Sancho this summer for less than £ 108million last year, according to a report.

The winger became the main target for United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in last year’s main transfer window. In fact, the Red Devils chased the 21-year-old all summer but failed to secure a deal on the line. Instead, Dortmund kept their hands on their star man by putting up a £ 108million fee.

However, the landscape has changed in recent months for the Bundesliga club.

Indeed, Sancho gnawed away another year of his contract, opening even more the possibility of his departure. Additionally, the coronavirus pandemic means transfer fees at all levels will decrease.

As such, ESPN claim Dortmund have ‘reassessed’ their situation and changed Sancho’s valuation to € 100million (£ 87million).

United would have made an offer with a “guaranteed” value of 95 million euros (£ 82million) last season.

However, they also reportedly hit the asking price of £ 87million last summer with an offer worth a total of € 110million (£ 95million).

As such, if they wish to spend such money, the figure of 100 million euros is still Unitedthe scope of.

The Red Devils have reportedly received a double boost in that there is no deadline this summer for potential buyers to secure a deal for Sancho on the line, unlike last summer.

Dortmund told interested parties they have until August 10 to make a deal. However, United caused controversy by ignoring this deadline.

Still, they wouldn’t face such a barrier this time around.

Champions League could affect Sancho

ESPNThe report does not mention the Champions League in its report, but qualifying for the first European competition will likely have an effect on Dortmund’s ability to keep Sancho.

Not only would it miss some of the club’s appeal for next season, but it would also affect their finances.

Dortmund are currently fifth in the Bundesliga with three games to go, but they are only one point behind fourth-placed Eintracht Frankfurt.

Indeed, they recovered points after losing 2-1 to their rivals in April.

Amid continued talks over Sancho, former United midfielder Roy Keane insists the club must target two big Premier League stars this summer.
