Daniel Eck is expected to make an official offer to buy Arsenal from Kroenke Sports & Entertainment this week after Thierry Henry confirmed that takeover talks are ongoing.
A boy Arsenal fan, owner of Spotify Ek, wrote on Twitter last week that he would be happy to “throw his hat in the ring” to buy the club from Kroenkes, and last week it was announced that he had provided the funds to continued a significant offer.
He received huge support from Arsenal fans who want to see the backs of the current owners after their participation in the short-lived Super League. And The Telegraph now reports that it will make an “official offer” by the end of this week worth about 1.8 billion euros.
He is expected to bring Thierry Henry and Dennis Bergkamp on board, and the former confirmed that there is substance in the takeover reports when he talks about football on Monday night at Sky Sports.
“I know a lot of people wanted to hear about it,” he said. “It’s true. Daniel is an Arsenal fan, he didn’t say it for publicity. He’s been an Arsenal fan for a very long time.
“He already – I’ll give you something – held out his hand [to the Kroenkes] and has already said that he has raised the funds to make sure he can make a good offer.
“Now they have to listen. Many people are shouting that they want the owner to come out. We are trying to offer a solution that includes the fans and the return of the club’s DNA.
“There should be a discussion, but he held out his hand. I think it will be long and not easy – if it ever happens. One thing I want to repeat is that Daniel will not go away, he will be there waiting to see whether they want to sell.
“It’s going to take a very long time. We know what we want to do, but first we have to make sure we can take it if they listen.”
