Gareth Bale claims that the Spurs are playing “on the path of Tottenham” under the leadership of Ryan Mason

Tottenham Hotspur winger Gareth Bale has admitted that Ryan Mason’s attacking tactics have revealed a new side to the team that has not been seen by former boss Jose Mourinho.

Mourinho was haunted by fans for his “negative” tactics, which saw the Spurs set up to defend themselves in hopes of punishing the counter-teams, but Mason encouraged his players to fly forward and the results were clear to see on Sunday. when Bale scored a hat-trick on the road to victory with 4: 0.

Bale was part of the renewed front line, which saw him start with Harry Kane, Son Hyungmin, Dele Ali and Giovanni Lo Celso, and the Welshman admitted after the game that this is a huge change from his time under Mourinho.

“We are more on the front foot, we are closer to the goal and you can score more,” he told Sky Sports. “We have been working on this for the last few weeks. Obviously it won’t happen overnight, but I feel like we’re taking a step in the right direction.

“We play football the way Tottenham did.”

Bale, who was used sporadically by Mourinho towards the end of his reign, now has four goals in just two Premier League games under Mason, and he has admitted that he is just waiting for someone to show him enough faith.

“Victory always makes everyone happy and gives a mentality to win in the locker room,” he continued. “Obviously you have to take a risk when they come, and fortunately I had a few tonight.

“I feel good. Like I said before, I just had to play games and play a few games, and now I do, so I’m happy and when I’m happy, I usually play well.”

After the game, Mason was asked about the likelihood that Bale would stay at Spurs after this season. His loan from Real Madrid remains for only a few weeks, and the Spurs are unable to buy the Welshman as part of the deal.

“I think this is a conversation at the end of the season between Garrett, the club and his parent club, our main focus and priority should be the next game,” he said (via BT Sport).

“It sounds cliché, but it’s true. I’m glad he’s happy, he should be, because there’s another game to add to the collection. It was also a great performance.

“I think the solution right now and the priority is that Garrett is ready to train and happy with the training. We have another big week of training because we have a massive game next weekend and we hope we can have a happy Garrett next weekend. “
