Atalanta manager Gian Piero Gasperini set to succeed Jose Mourinho at Tottenham Hotspur

According to the transfer window podcast, Tottenham Hotspur have inquired about Atalanta manager Gian Piero Gasperini as they continue their search for Jose Mourinho’s permanent replacement.

Ryan Mason has taken over the team temporarily, and while he is reportedly being considered for the job, Spurs ideally prefer someone with experience.

While Gasperini does not fit the ‘young and dynamic’ model they are looking for, his recent performance with Atalanta seems to have caught the eye of President Daniel Levy.

A leading agent in Europe has informed the 63-year-old of Spurs’ interest and he has responded positively.

Gasperini plays a possession-based football that favors the 3-4-3 formation and the high-octane press style, and the lure to do well in the Premier League could attract him to the Tottenham job.

When Atalanta stumbled across their weight in Serie A despite a limited transfer budget, the veteran manager could be the perfect man for Levy.

The former manager of Inter Milan and Genoa was named Serie A coach in 2019 and 2020 after leading his team to third places.

Atalanta are currently second in Serie A as they see yet another top-four finish and he could possibly get Tottenham challenging for silverware and Champions League football again.
