Manchester United want to sign Sam Johnstone from West Bromwich Albion in summer transfer window, say ESPN. Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United are also keen to secure the services of the 28-year-old England goalkeeper, it has been claimed.
United are considering Johnstone as a potential replacement for David de Gea. The Spain international goalkeeper has lost his place in the starting lineup to Dean Henderson, and the Red Devils are looking for potential targets if he decides to leave.
Johnstone was on United’s books from 2009 to 2018 when he moved to West Brom on a permanent contract, having had loan spells at Preston North End and Aston Villa, among other clubs. The Baggies are likely to be relegated from the Premier League at the end of the season, and it is difficult to see the 28-year-old staying at the Hawthorns beyond the summer.
