Liverpool can only afford Jadon Sancho if Mo Salah is sold this summer, Raphael Honigstein reckons.
The German journalist made the comment as he wondered about the English likely next club.
“I can not imagine Liverpool, especially since the money for a Sancho transfer is simply not there. A new dynamic could only come into play if Mo Salah leaves, ”he told Sport1.
Salah has pretty much been our only shining light in this concept, and there is no way we should even consider redeeming – though his contract situation is starting to worry us a bit.
The Egyptian wants big new terms that he deserves, but the club is eager to accept the extension given our current economy.
But by not giving Salah what he wants, we risk him running out on his contract, which this time next year has only one year left – which will force us to a much cheaper sale …
Buying a player like Sancho will not feel very exciting if it is the result of us losing our best player.
We give Salah what he wants. Without him this period, we would at best be in the middle of the table.
