Michael Ball said Football FanCast that this Rangers team will be remembered forever if they manage to finish the season undefeated in the top flight.
Steven Gerrard’s team came one step closer to the end of the season without defeat at the weekend, as they defeated the closest rivals Celtic with 4: 1 in the one-sided derby of Old Firm.
He leaves the club with 23 points in second place after losing points in just six games this season – all away from home and all draws.
Is James Tavernier Rangers Player of the Year?
Rangers still have two games of the season, against sixth-placed Livingston and fourth-placed Aberdeen.
Wins in both will take them to 102 points and lead to a remarkable season for Gerard and his players.
And Ball believes that the incentive to enter history books will lead to the transfer of the Gers and become the first Rangers team to pass an entire season undefeated in the Premiership of the 1800s.
He said FFC: “It’s a great incentive. It’s a very strange situation they find themselves in when the league is done and cleared, but there is still a focus on trying to get results and it’s a good incentive for Stephen to convey to his players that this will not be forgotten.
“If you go through the whole season undefeated, it will be a fantastic achievement for everyone and then you can go to the beach and celebrate better – if you have the right to travel far!”
