The mother of former Super Eagles forward Rashidi Yekini has made it clear that she is still feeling the pains nine years after her son’s disappearance.
There has been serious controversy surrounding Yekini’s death given the way the former Nigerian striker was kidnapped by some of his family.
Yekini’s younger brother, Hakeem, and his sister Simiat were among those who took him from his home in Ibadan to an unknown location for treatment, unfortunately they both died.
They claimed the Super Eagles legend was not mentally stable, which forced them to seek help in the traditional way.
On Wednesday morning, May 5, Legit.ng visited Rashidi Yekini’s mother, Sikiratu, at her home in Ijagbo, Oyun local government in Kwara State, where she explained that no one had killed her. son.
“I heard a lot of people who said that Rashidi was killed by his people and I want to make it clear that I am his mother and how would I kill someone who built me a house.
“We only tried to help him when he was having trouble and we took him to a place I don’t know because Hakeem and Simiat had contact with the traditional man.
“Rashidi’s death was not caused by anyone and I still feel the pain of losing my son because he was the breadwinner of the family.
The late legend Rashidi Yekini passed away on May 4, 2012.
