Chelsea confirms Thiago Silva’s new contract, targeting another central defender

Chelsea is about to announce a new contract with Thiago Silva.
However, they are also exploring the option of signing another central defender this summer. According to well-known journalist Fabrizio Romano.
The 36-year-old player made 34 appearances in his debut for the Blues. He suffered several injuries, one of which occurred in the Champions League final against Manchester City last night. The Blues won 1-0.
Despite this, the West London giants have mutually agreed to implement a 12-month extension clause for his 110,000 pounds a week contract, Romano revealed that he expects to announce this soon.
The Blues are still considering the prospect of strengthening the central defender, and if a suitable opportunity arises in the upcoming transfer window, they can sign.

Silva improved the Blues’ defense last season, and he also played the best performance of the defensive players who fought alongside him.
The Brazilian will turn 37 later this year, but the club is prepared to believe that his experience will at least play a role in another game.
When Silva was absent, Andreas Christensen had a positive side in the recent campaign.
If Thomas Tuchel plans to continue using the three-man defense next season, he may still want to strengthen the central defender.
Real Madrid’s Rafael Varane is linked to a possible transfer and he will be a great plan for the Blues this summer.
At the same time, the contracts of Christensen, Antonio Rudiger and Cesar Aspilicueta will expire next June.
All three of them may renew their deal. If a new signing arrives, Kurt Zouma may be the player going to the exit gate.
