Jorginho’s Premier League goalscoring record highlights Chelsea’s attacking inefficiency – Talk Chelsea

As Jorginho made it 2-0 for Chelsea with a penalty kick in the 65th minute, he became Chelsea’s joint-highest goalscorer in Premier League.

The central midfielder is a surprise name to appear in that list, given the fact the club’s attacking line-up is adorned with the likes of Mason Mount, Timo Werner and Tammy Abraham – much more rather so given the fact Abraham is the club’s highest overall goalscorer with 12 goals.

Chelsea cruised to a 2-0 victory against Everton and maintained Tuchel’s unbeaten run of eleven matches. Sitting in the fourth place with 50 points, four points ahead of Everton, the victory is a major morale-booster in the fight to land a top-four spot.

Jorginho tied the six goal mark in the league with none other than Tammy Abraham himself, who has found games hard done by.

The Italian midfielder has been an ever-present rock in Chelsea’s midfield. He has been a regular starter in Thomas Tuchel’s eleven, having missed only one and a half matches – coming on in a 15-minute cameo against Southampton before missing the league one-off with Manchester United.

A deep lying midfielder taking the accolade of the club’s joint-highest goalscorer in the league is a testament of Chelsea’s inefficiency in finding the back of the net with the main frontline of Werner, Giroud, Mount and more recently, Pulisic.

So far, Jorginho has appeared 26 times this season, scoring six goal across all competitions. His presence has been instrumental in midfield alongside the likes of Mateo Kovacic and N’Golo Kante.
