Reece James has excelled in form under Tuchel’s management to the extent that he’s been operating in a newly-adopted wing-back role.
The 21-year-old defender has been used effectively in a versatile role that has allowed him to express himself in the whole sense.
Speaking of Tuchel coaching methods to the official Chelsea website, James said:
“The more we play together, the stronger we will be. Game by game, we will get better and build together.”
Tuchel has gelled very well amongst the team members, establishing straight forward relationships with a ‘funny’ character.
“He is very funny and very passionate because he wants to win. He wants the best for his players and his team, and that shows when he’s on the sideline kicking and heading every ball. Everyone gets on well and it’s a great group,” he said
James is confident how Chelsea have progressed as a group under the German’s management, stating he respects the manager’s decisions to bench players.
Speaking of which, he said:
“When you play for a top team, you cannot always play and you know you might find yourself in a period where you don’t play as much. He is the manager and he makes the decisions so I have to respect them.
We have to win trophies this season.”
While James has not found himself starting every other match under Tuchel, he has surely developed into a tough player for his age. The former U-18s captain is one of Chelsea’s more important players and possesses great ability to become a starter.
