In an exclusive interview with Football FanCastSteve Howey, who has made 99 appearances for Manchester City, believes that if Pep Guardiola decides to sign Erling Haaland it will be the end of other teams being competitive in the Premier League for a few years.
Man City are on course to win the Premier League without a striker being their top scorer, the first time a team has done so since Yaya Touré finished City’s top scorer in the 2013/14 season with 20 goals.
Should City sign Haaland this summer?
Haaland continued to impress in every passing game in the Bundesliga and Champions League. He became the youngest and fastest player to reach 20 goals after it took him just 14 games.
Explaining why Haaland moving to the Etihad would make City too good-looking for other teams to compete, but admit City may not need a striker, Howey said. FFC:
“I think if Man City to have Erling Haaland it is Thu completed, we can Forget sure the Premier League for another little years.
“Ssometimes I born think Pep plays with a traditional center cheeky, he never really did when he was in Barcelona.
“He always tries to be inventive in terms of how change things like that It’s okay to be interesting at see WHO he is perhaps looking at this summer.
Man City have been linked with a move for Haaland and Harry Kane this summer as they look to plug the hole Sergio Aguero will be leaving this summer, after his upcoming exit was announced this week.
Midfielder Ilkay Gundogan is City’s top scorer this season with 16 goals, as well as consecutive player of the month title in January and February respectively.
