Three Chelsea players make England’s U21 Euro Championship squad – Talk Chelsea

Three Chelsea youngsters have been called up to Gareth Southgate’s U-21 England squad for the upcoming European Championship finals.

Callum Hudson-Odoi, Conor Gallagher and Marc Guehi have all been called up to the tournament which will be co-hosted by Hungary and Slovenia.

Callum Hudson-Odoi has been selected for the side although he has already represented the senior England squad. So far this season for Chelsea, Hudson-Odoi has appeared regularly under Tuchel’s management.

Marc Guehi plays for Swansea City after moving on loan from the U-23 Chelsea side. The centre-back has appeared regularly for the Swans in the EFL Championship – registering 33 caps.

Conor Gallagher on the other hand is plying his trade at West Brom since moving from the Blues last year. He already made 25 appearances this season for the club since making the loan switch.

The U-21 Euro Championship is touted to start on March 24, 2020. England first take on Switzerland on March 25, one day after the beginning of the tournament.

The group stages will begin on 24th March and go on until the 31st of March. The knockout stage matches will be continued from 31 May to 6 June. England will face the likes of Portugal, Croatia, and Switzerland in Group D.

England will look to usurp Spain who are the defending champions. The final will be played in Ljubljana on June 6, 2020.

Aidy Boothroyd’s side also possesses the likes of Manchester United’s Mason Greenwood, Liverpool’s Curtis Jones & Arsenal’s Emile Smith Rowe. You can find the full list of the players called up below.

With talented teams such as Germany & Spain, England will face tough competition in the road to the title.

It looks likely for Hudson-Odoi to make the starting eleven more often than his on-loan Chelsea compatriots, given the fact that he has risen tremendously as a player in recent months.
