The latest England squad has been announced.
Leeds United fans are furious over Gareth Southgate’s decision to disqualify Patrick Bamford in their next match.
The Three Lions will begin their qualifying campaign for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar in the last days of March. They start by welcoming San Marino to Wembley, before a trip to Albania. Finally, they will face Poland on their home turf.
Yesterday’s David Anderson of The Mirror claimed that Southgate is considering giving Bamford his debut for his country.
Luke Ayling was also under consideration, with Anderson claiming Southgate liked the right-back.
However, apart from Calvin Phillips, who kept his place on the side, neither Bamford nor Ealing were able to forge their way into the 26-man squad.
I’m devastated for Bamford, it’s properly destroyed.
How can you do more than he did to deserve a phone call?
Ayling could have been justifiably chosen but the competition for places is very high in that area of the court

I don’t think Patrick Bamford would have been upset if it weren’t for calling Ole Watkins. Someone who has scored fewer goals and helped less this season. Bamford surpasses him in every way. So why was Watkins called?

I think the concern would be that Pat might not fit the England style … the same way they used Calvin incorrectly – honestly for now, I’d rather not play because they aren’t playing 100%.
However, the stats alone put him in conflict with Bill

Watch England just to see how Calvin continues. It’s ruined for Pam Bamford and Luke, but I’m glad they’ll keep them fit and hopefully we’ll keep them. Keep their heads down and keep doing what they do better and who knows. Bamford’s cheerful smile and the volatility of Ealing at Wembley can wait #Law #against

Not sure if I agreed with Ole Watkins’ selection before Bamford. Bamford does a lot more than Watkins in my book. https://t.co/xM2kFRv5Qc

I have no problem with calling Olly Watkins, but how can Southgate say he can say exactly the same things about Watkins and Bamford and then pick the one who scored the fewest goals? An absolute joke!

Bamford has been excellent this season with Leeds.
He has scored 13 goals so far and played a pivotal role for Leeds in his first season in the Premier League.
Southgate picked Ole Watkins as the Villa striker in the upcoming England matches. While Watkins did well for Via, Bamford brings a lot more to the side than just scoring goals.
