Barry Fry said exclusively Football FanCast that he doesn’t believe Daniel Levy will regret nominating Jose Mourinho if Tottenham fail to win a trophy this season.
The Spurs president made the decision to sack the popular Mauricio Pochettino in November 2019, before replacing him with the former manager of Chelsea, Real Madrid and Manchester United in a bid to break Tottenham’s long wait for a trophy .
Should Tottenham sack Jose Mourinho?
However, north London crashed out of the Europa League embarrassingly on Thursday night, losing 3-0 to Croatian side Dinamo Zagreb, less than two months after exiting the FA Cup, meaning their only chance silverware this season is in the next month. Carabao Cup final against Manchester City.
Tottenham are also six points out of the top four and are at serious risk of missing out on not only Champions League spots but European football as well.
Despite their poor form under Mourinho, the Peterborough football director doesn’t believe Levy will see his decision to hire Mourinho as a bad one.
He said Football FanCast:
“Knowing Daniel, I don’t think he ever thought he made a bad decision. Everyone was surprised when he made this appointment.
“But Daniel has built one of, if not the best stadium in the world at Tottenham now, it’s amazing. I’ve been there many times and I’m always “wow, wow, wow”. So Daniel did an absolutely brilliant job, because that was his brain, and everyone is thankful for that.
“But Tottenham fans also want to see an entertaining team on the pitch and they want to see a trophy. But they have a chance of winning a trophy, so if they get a trophy, he will become god again.
