In an exclusive interview with Football FanCastFormer Premier League midfielder Carlton Palmer pushed Amad Diallo to a starting position at Manchester United.
Diallo, who joined Manchester United from Atalanta for £ 37million in January, stole the headlines in the Red Devils’ last 16 first leg against AC Milan in the Europa League, coming off the bench for score a fantastic header.
The 18-year-old has seen virtually no action since, but Palmer is confident fans will see him more next season.
Will Amad Diallo arrive at Manchester United?
Addressed exclusively to FFC of Diallo, the former England international said:
“Listen, he’s a talent. They paid a lot of money for him, so they didn’t buy him to sit in the reserves or sit on the bench. There is a lot of football being played this season. Man United will finish second so they will be in the Champions League so there will be a lot of football to play. So, yes, they’ll be looking to give him more starts and more appearances, but he’s 18. He has time on his side.
Diallo’s cameo in that 1-1 draw with Stefano Pioli’s side at Old Trafford was certainly brilliant. Still, it’s not much of a surprise to see him outside of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s starting XI at the moment.
The Norwegian coach is currently blessed with a plethora of quality attacking options, giving Diallo plenty of competition. This season, Solskjaer has been able to call on personalities like Bruno Fernandes, Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial and Mason Greenwood.
The former Cardiff City manager also has quick Dan James at his disposal, with the Welsh winger starting to gain some form, managing to score a few Premier League goals last month.
