Tottenham in talks to sign Brazilian striker after reconnaissance mission

Tottenham have reportedly been in talks with the Corinthians over a potential £ 8.5million transfer for beloved young striker Rodrigo Varanda.

The report of The sun claims the 18-year-old impressed Spurs’ scouts, with discussions already underway on a passage to North London. The club is actively seeking to recruit young talent, with transfer funds at a premium due to the effect of Covid-19.

The report adds that Varanda broke his contract in January, with the Corinthians scrambling to extend his terms to ensure they can demand a decent fee for the teenager.

Varanda is a versatile striker who can play either on the wing or down the center. He has mainly lined up as a right winger for his club this season.

It appears the deal is on the way, although Tottenham do not have a permanent manager in place.

Ryan Mason is in charge until the end of the season, but Spurs have already been snubbed by several names.

Belgian boss Roberto Martinez is the last option suggested, with reports claiming he wants Premier League return.

As for Varanda, a relatively modest fee of £ 8.5million is mentioned. However, he is a player who is unlikely to push for a first-team spot right away.

Tottenham consider making offer for prolific striker

Meanwhile, Tottenham have joined the club mix seeking to bring a currently surpassing striker Harry Kane to the Premier League, according to a report.

Tottenham face a number of tough decisions over the next summer. The club sacked Jose Mourinho a week before his League Cup final with Man City. Ryan Mason took the temporary charge, but Spurs’ expectation for a trophy boomed after being completely outclassed that day.

The decision to decide who should take the reins of management next season will have a major impact on the club’s fortunes.

Ajax boss Erik ten Hag was thought to be in the frame for the job, but hopes were dashed after sign new terms with the Amsterdam club.

Away from managerial speculation, concerns have started to grow over the future of talismanic striker Harry Kane.

The England captain is yet to win silverware with Tottenham. After their last disappointment at Wembley last week, Kane reiterated his desire to win the biggest prizes in the game.

Mason recently left a clue about Kane’s future, but whether or not Tottenham is in desperate need of some extra firepower.

Now, Football insider say this extra injection of goals could come in the form of a Brentford hitman, Ivan Toney.

Toney, 25, has been a revelation since leaving Newcastle permanently in 2018. He managed better than one goal in every other game with Peterborough before moving to Brentford Championship powerhouse.

Toney currently leads the second tier scorecard with 29 and has demonstrated his overall abilities by adding 10 assists.
