MAnchester United supporters burst into the stadium and onto the pitch ahead of Sunday match against Liverpool as fans gathered outside Old Trafford to protest the property.
Long-standing anger against club owners, the Glazer family, has exploded after participating in the unsuccessful attempt to bring United into a European Super League.
Media trying to enter the club’s parking lot learned that the ground was locked. United supporters were expressing their anger over Glazer family-backed plans to join a European Super League proposal, which collapsed soon after.
The plans added to years of discontent and partisan protests following the controversial Glazers takeover in 2005.
Off the pitch, a large number of supporters were also protesting.
A protest was scheduled outside the ground at 2 p.m., with fans gathering at least an hour before.
Fans are currently unable to attend games due to the pandemic.
