Sone day Premier League match between Manchester United and Liverpool was postponed, after fan protests blocked the arrival of buses and 200 fans broke into Old trafford and took the land.
They were protesting against the Glazer family, the owners of the club.
Police, Premier League, Trafford Council and both clubs have agreed the game could not go ahead.
“Following the security breach at Old Trafford, the Manchester United vs Liverpool the match has been postponed, ”a Premier League statement said.
“This is a collective decision by the police, the two clubs, the Premier League and the local authorities.
“The safety and security of everyone at Old Trafford remains of paramount importance. We understand and respect the force of sentiment, but condemn all acts of violence, criminal damage and trespassing, especially given the violations associated with COVID-19.
“Fans have many channels to make their views known, but the actions of a minority seen today have no justification.
“We sympathize with the police and the stewards who have had to deal with a dangerous situation which should not have its place in football.
“The refitting of the aircraft will be communicated in due course.”
It remains to be seen when the game can be played, given Manchester Unitedthe continued participation of the Europa League.
