Lionel Messi scored the 50th free kick of his Barcelona career during their 3-2 victory over Valencia on Sunday night.

It was Messithird free kick goal this season – after strikes against Grenade and Athletic club – and, as mentioned, his 50th in all competitions for the Blaugrana.
The highest number of free kicks the 32-year-old has scored in a season dates back to 2018/19, when he scored eight times from a dead ball. He did this seven times each in 2015/16 and 2017/18.

Sunday’s visit to Mestalla also saw Messi marks his ninth double of the season in LaLiga Santander.
Real Betis, Athletic, Granada, Alaves, Elche, Huesca, Real Sociedad and Getafe have all conceded twice to Messi in at least one game this season.
