Rafael Varane doubts Chelsea’s rematch after suffering an injury

Real Madrid central defender Rafael Varane is expected to miss the rematch in the semi-finals of his team in the Champions League, after suffering a quadruple injury in the 2-0 victory over Osasuna on Saturday.
The Frenchman reached the halftime of the game, but was withdrawn at intervals after complaining of pain in his right leg.
According to AS, Varane did not participate in team training on Sunday and will be sent for additional scans on Monday to determine the severity of his injury, but just two days before the match with Chelsea, there is almost no chance that he will be ready.
Even if the scans show that Varane has not suffered any damage, manager Zinedine Zidane is not expected to risk the 28-year-old as he tries to deal with the crisis with a defensive injury that haunts the end of the season.
Zidane still has Nacho Fernandez and Eder Militao, the latter of whom was honored against Chelsea for the first time, while he also has positive feelings for Sergio Ramos, who is yet to return to team training, but had gone individual on Sunday.
The Spaniard is also working with left-back Ferland Mendy, who is approaching his own return from injury. It was thought that Mandy would have to start the game after his left-back colleague Marcelo was called up for election the day before the game, but Real are set to order Marcelo a private jet of 17,000 British pounds to make sure that reaches Stamford Bridge time.
Zidane’s defensive chaos doesn’t stop there. He has problems with the left back and central defender, but his worries with the right back may be the worst of all.
Danny Carvajal is expected to miss the rest of the season with a lower leg injury, and the flexible Lucas Vazquez is also unable to fill it due to his own problem with the end of the campaign.
Zidane’s third choice for the position, midfielder Federico Valverde, hopes to return from the isolation imposed by COVID in time to present himself, but if the Uruguayan fails to return, the boss may have to go with real right-back Alvaro Odriozola which could hardly be further down if he tried.
Fortunately, after the defensive carnage is over, Real do not have many worries. Zidane will have at his disposal the regular midfielders of Luka Modric and Tony Kroos, after resting both, which means that the veterans can line up with Kazemiro as Real, who is fighting for a place in the final.
