Marcus Bent said exceptionally Football FanCast that Gylfi Sigurdsson still has a future at Everton last summer.
The Icelandic international is in his fourth season at Merseyside after moving from Swansea City for 45 million pounds, but failed to live up to expectations.
Should Everton sign Ivan Tony this summer?
In addition to Richardson and Dominic Calvert-Lewin, the former Tottenham man has scored the most goals for Toffee, but is not a guaranteed starter for Carlo Ancelotti.
Sigurdsson has played in each of Everton’s previous five Premier League games, but has been on the bench 13 times this season – with Alex Iwobi and Bernard sometimes preferred in attacking positions by the Italian.
His deal with Everton expires in 2022, but despite reports that Toffees are open to sell him this summer, Bent has been reassured that Sigurdsson is still seen as a vital part of Ancelotti’s team.
He said Football FanCast:
“Everton are happy with him and do not want to let him go. I think he has a future there; I’ve heard it from a lot of people in Everton. “
Sigurdsson has scored twice in the recent draw with the Spurs, taking his campaign result to eight in all competitions, but Bent still expects more from the former Swansea man.
“He needs to score more goals and be more consistent,“he added.
