In an exclusive interview with Football FanCast, former Aston Villa midfielder Lee Hendry backed Steven Gerrard to become manager of his former club one day.
This comes after Football Insider reports that Villa CEO Christian Purslow wants to bring the Rangers boss to Villa Park in the future.
Gerard had a campaign with the Scottish Prime Minister to remember this season, as his country managed to win the title and end Celtic’s dominance in the process.
Would you take Steven Gerrard for Villa’s next boss?
Given this, it’s no surprise that a club like Villa seems to have the Liverpool legend on its radar.
Speaking exclusively of FFC about Villa’s reported interest in Gerard, Hendry said:
“I I think if he had on choice on is coming to a club such as Villa, I I think he would certainly look at this better. He had this attempt to get on and actually prove he could do it. “
The former Villa player also added:
“You can never turn it off. Christian Purslow would definitely I say “YesAh, I’d like Stevie G to be the manager of Aston Villa. I think a lot of people would probably like that.
“I personal I think he could I’m coming in on Prime Minister League. I don’t want Dean Smith to go obviously, but if this was the upcoming manager, you’d think, “I wouldn’t mind having him at the football club.” “
While Villa can admire Gerard, it’s hard to imagine him leaving Rangers, as he has a chance to rule the Glasgow giants in the Champions League next season.
On top of that, Smith’s work in the Villa Park dugout seems safe for now, as the villains continue to move away from the relegation zone.
