In an exclusive interview with Football FanCastNewcastle United Hall of Fame member Rob Lee believes many fans are losing hope in their club as they see no change on the horizon.
The Magpies had never been relegated from the Premier League until Mike Ashley took over the club and since then they have had two relegations in 2009 and 2016.
Will Newcastle have new owners next season?
After Rafa Benitez left Newcastle, the board appointed Steve Bruce as their replacement and the former Sunderland manager failed to improve the squad in two seasons, despite significant investments on the pitch.
He bought Allan Saint-Maximin and Joelinton, the latter for a record £ 40million, but that hasn’t stopped Newcastle from ending up in a relegation battle this quarter.
Explaining why many fans are now falling in love with Newcastle and what they want to see from their club, Lee said FFC:
“The fans are losing interest in Newcastle because they or they can not see any change; they or they can not see whatever happening at the club.
“They can not see any excitation to come up, they or they can not see anything in the a futurend I can not see any hope of change, and you need hope in football.
“I don’t care if we change the manager or players because we need at change the owner.”
Newcastle have been embroiled in a legal battle with the Premier League over their failed takeover last summer, set to go through arbitration.
