Arsenal are ready to return this summer and sign back for the sender following the Arteta decision

According to reports in Spain, Thomas Partey was able to leave Arsenal after only one season at the Emirates Stadium.

Partey joined Arsenal on the deadline in October, after triggering his € 50m release clause. The midfielder moved from Atletico Madrid, while Lucas Torreira went the other way on loan. But none of these features in particular have worked.

Torreira has been fighting for playing time in the Spanish capital and has now set his heart on returning to South America. Arsenal will have to find a solution for him in the summer.

But they also need to figure out what to do with Partey. The Ghana international has had various injury problems and was criticized by Mikel Arteta earlier in the season for his role in a goal Arsenal admitted.

So far, the 27-year-old has managed 20 appearances in the Premier League, 15 of which started. He has given two assists in these games.

But Arsenal are still looking for the right balance in their midfield. Actual goalkeeper Bernd Leno recently claimed that they needed to sign an “ankle bit” in that position.

Partey has good qualities both in and out of possession, but he is not that kind of player. Therefore, if Arsenal take Leno’s advice, they may have to bring in someone else.

According to Todofichajes, the Gunners are now thinking of selling Partey just one year into his contract, which still runs until 2025.

Since Torreira will not stay at Atletico, it is speculated that Partey could also be returned to the sender. Arsenal will try to recover the fee of 50 million. €, they used if Atleti can stop it.

Diego Simeone is said to be eager for his side to take Partey back to Spain. The report points to how they re-signed Filipe Luis and Diego Costa after mixed spells with Chelsea.

Despite earning 50 million. € from the Party’s transfer last year, Atletico do not have the means to sign him for that value. Therefore, it may be necessary to spread the payments over several years or take him on an initial loan agreement.

But Arteta does not see him as “untouchable”, so Arsenal can be open to negotiations.

Partey backed up to get well

Despite his indifferent debut season in England, Partey remains a first-class player, and his former Atletico midfielder Saul Niguez recently supported him to overcome his struggles.

Saul told Live score last month: “I think he has been very unlucky due to injuries, especially now that they in the UK are more limited like we were in Spain a few months ago.

“It’s hard because he started pre-season with us and then he left without finishing it. He tried to play every game he got injured, then he tried to get back before the right time.

“Everything has been a bit unfortunate, but I think next season will be a great season for him.”

Whether he spends that season playing for Arsenal or back with Saul in Madrid remains to be seen.
