Marcus Bent said exceptionally Football FanCast that he believes Eddie Howe wants to stay in the Premier League.
The former Bournemouth manager has been out of work since taking down Cherries last season, but has been heavily touted as Celtic’s number one goal to replace Neil Lennon at Parkhead.
Should the Palace sign Maitland-Niles?
Yes, he is perfect.
No, he’s not good enough.
Howe reportedly made a verbal agreement to become the next Hoop manager earlier this month, but negotiations appear to be stalled, with the 43-year-old still undecided.
But after signing the deal with Glasgow giants, Howe is strongly linked to the vacancy at Crystal Palace, with growing uncertainty about the future of Roy Hodgson, whose contract expires in the summer.
Howe has held talks with the Eagles, and Bent believes his stay in England will be his preference, especially after his outstanding Premier League job with Bournemouth.
Bent said Football FanCast:
“With Celtic you are moving away from the Premier League, there are four teams in this league that you can compete with. I think he probably wants to stay in the Premier League.
“Palace, the players and the team are doing well. He could go in there and bring in one or two players and his staff.
“I’m sure it would be a good move for him, even though he is in the Premier League, so I think it would be a good move for him and not for Celtic.”
