Rangers are set to offer Ryan Kent an exceptional new contract to keep Leeds at bay for another season, according to reports.
Kent, 24, turned out to be a superb signing for Steven Gerrard after joining a permanent £ 7million contract from Liverpool in 2019. The winger had impressed on loan and Gerrard was desperate to get the player born in Oldham on board at Ibrox. Kent has 12 goals and 14 assists in all competitions this season and he helped Gers beat Celtic 4-1 0 over the weekend.
Its form has had scouts flocking to see it and Leeds, according to the Scottish sun last month, are back in the footsteps of Kent. Marcelo Bielsa failed with a few offers to get Kent last summer and West Yorkshire are looking at Kent again.
This led to Gerrard asking the Rangers to offer Kent a new contract. The daily record report that the fan favorite is in line for an ‘exceptional new deal’ to keep the Premier League squad at bay.
Kent is under contract until 2023 and the report claims the Gers “plan to cash in at some point.” However, Gerrard wants Kent for a Champions League crack and the ex-Liverpool man seems excited about the prospect.
The Ibrox chefs also want to maximize their profits on Kent and a leading role in Europe’s premier competition could see its value increase.
Speaking ahead of the weekend, Kent said: “He’s just playing now. It’s nice to be linked to other big clubs.
“But, you have to understand your duty where you are at.
“And as long as I’m at the Rangers, I’ll always give them 100%.
“I love this place and the club has done so much for me As long as I’m here I’ll be totally focused on the Rangers.
“The Champions League will be massive, it’s the biggest stage in club football, being able to test yourself against the best players in the world and the best teams in the world.”

Laudrup: no Champions League football in Leeds
Meanwhile, former Gers striker Brian Laudrup wrote in the Daily mail: “Everyone knows that the financial aspect of football influences decisions.
“A really huge offer could come this summer that the Rangers and the player both decide they can’t refuse. It’s life. But I hope Kent stays in Ibrox. Because I see real benefits.
“The attraction of the Champions League is there next season. It could be the opportunity to test yourself against the best players in the biggest competition of all. You can’t have that in Leeds right now.
And Rangers legend Barry Ferguson desperately wants Kent to stay in Glasgow.
He said: “I just hope he’s a player the manager is allowed to keep. I’m sure if southern clubs like Leeds and other clubs watched the game he was the most outstanding player.
“I know Roofe came in and scored a brace, but for me Ryan Kent was the outstanding player in the country mile park.”
