Tottenham Hotspur legend Graham Roberts told Football FanCast that Eric Dyer should play as a right back for the club.
The English international is struggling for form sometimes this season before the dismissal of former manager Jose Mourinho.
The Portuguese was fired last week, with Ryan Mason appointed as interim head coach.
Is Dier a future at the center of the defender?
Mason then led the club against Southampton in the Premier League and Manchester City in the Carabao Cup final, before a 4-0 victory over Sheffield United at the weekend.
The Spurs beat the Saints 2-1, came from behind to win, and lost 1-0 to City at Wembley before that.
Dier played 90 minutes in the central defender’s three games, but Roberts believes he is best suited to play as a defender.
The 27-year-old is multi-faceted and, according to Transfermarkt, has played right-back 26 times in his career, although he has not been in that role since the 2014/15 season.
However, Roberts, who won the UEFA Cup as a player with the Spurs, said FFC: “If I was in this job, I would go for Eric Deere to play right wing or right back, because he is not the center half.
“Eric Deere is not the center half.”
