Arteta to get ‘extra funds’ as Arsenal assure him his job is safe

Mikel Arteta will be Arsenal manager next season with his transfer budget to increase, according to reports.

The Gunners boss has come under fire in recent weeks with his side showing little improvement in the Premier League, although they did beat modest Newcastle United 2-0 this weekend.

The victory pushed them to ninth place, while their hopes of glory in the Europa League are at stake as they head into the second leg of their 2-1 semi-final against Villarreal.

There were cheers at the end of last season and earlier this campaign that suggested Arteta was improving Arsenal – but doubts emerge if a lot has really changed during the time when the Spaniard was in charge.

Glory in the Europa League would give Arteta his second trophy in two seasons, having won the FA Cup last season, and would surely keep him in his post.

however, Eurosport claims he’ll keep his job anyway with ‘he is now expected to receive additional funds for the next transfer window ”.

The report adds that Arteta ‘was once again assured that his job at Arsenal is safe ” despite recent rumors surrounding his post.

Stan Kroenke is reportedly trying to ‘calm the anger’ surrounding his property and the collapsed European Super League proposals by putting his hand in his pocket on the newcomers.

Eurosport adds:

Figures close to Arsenal believe there is a lack of understanding at the club’s top level about the type of players who will be interested in joining this summer.

“ With the team struggling to produce convincing performances under Mikel Arteta, there is a feeling that the big names on their shortlist may not be interested. ”

This comes right after a report in Football Italia who believes that Arsenal is preparing “to live after” Arteta and has “started discussions” with former Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri.

Tottenham are also reportedly in talks with Sarri and the Italian is ‘ready to return to the Premier League’, Arteta ‘is expected to leave the Emirates Stadium at the end of the season’.
