Norwich Interested in Bornauw | FootballFanCast.com

Norwich City is considering a deal to bring Sebastian Bornau to Carrow Road this summer.

What talk?

This is according to a report by Sky Sports (via Football League World), which claims Stuart Webber has made adding a new center back his priority for the Canary side this summer, with defender 1. FC Koln at the top of his list.

The sporting director is believed to want to make improvements to Daniel Farke’s current options at the center of the Norwich defense from Ben Gibson, Grant Hanley and Christoph Zimmerman ahead of the Premier League season.

Would Bornau’s signature be good?

Goodbye Zimmerman

Given how impressed Bornau has been in the Bundesliga this season, it is not surprising to hear that Norwich is considering a transfer to the 22-year-old.

In the 24 league matches he has played so far, the £ 10.8m ranked defender has achieved an average of 1.7 interceptions, 1.2 tackles and 4.2 eliminations per match, plus winning an average of 4.3 duels per match and helping his team keep five cards clean.

The Belgian international also proved to be a threat to the attackers, as the defender managed to score once, in addition to providing a single pass.

Bornau’s range of assists is impressive as well, with the £ 12,000 player a week averaging 31.2 minute passes per match, plus 3.8 minute long balls and two choppy passes each time his appearance.

Those metrics culminated so far with the 22-year-old earning a 6.90 seasonal Sofa Score rating, making him Friedhelm Funkel’s fourth-best performance in the Bundesliga – with only the second leg of Colin’s relegation match against Holstein. He left Kiel to play the term.

In fact, Bornau’s choice at the center of the Norwich defense might sound like a huge upgrade for Zimmermann, with the 28-year-old doing an average of 0.5 interceptions, 0.5 tackles and 2.4 distractions in the match over the course of 22 matches in the tournament, seeing the German getting a match rating Sofaskor’s seasonal score at 6.73 – making him the city’s ninth-worst player in Division Two

As such, it would be highly advisable for Stuart Webber to act on his reported interest in Colin’s man this summer, as the 22-year-old appears to be much higher than Zimmerman’s ceiling, plus he is already a better option for the club in his next campaign in Premier League.
