Banksy’s work dedicated to health workers raises nearly 20 million euros

BanksyThe last work of “Game Changer” was sold Tuesday for a little less than 20 million euros.
At Christie’s in London, the work sold for 19,422,522 euros, which is a world record for any British artist’s work in an auction.
The urban artist hoped to earn around 3.5 million euros for the work, with the money going to UK public health charities.
The artwork shows a young boy playing with a doll in a medical uniform, apparently making it fly like a superhero. Background, Batman and spiderman the dolls are in a basket. ? A tribute to health workers
Banksy donated the work to a Southampton hospital in May 2020, during the first wave of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Thank you for everything you do,” read an accompanying note. “I hope that will brighten up the place a bit, even though it’s black and white.”
The hospital will keep a reproduction of the play.
